What is Nutritional Therapy?
Whether you or your child have been diagnosed with a specific medical condition or just have persistent symptoms such as digestive issues, joint pain, brain fog, chronic sinus problems, headaches, fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, or other maladies, nutritional therapy can reduce or even eliminate your symptoms. Food really is medicine!
As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I’m trained to correlate your symptoms with your biological systems. This knowledge helps me pinpoint the exact nutritional support your body needs. Taking into consideration your unique biochemistry, I create a Customized Therapeutic Food Plan to guide you as you take steps toward better health. The specific foods and nutrients detailed in your personalized plan help support and strengthen weakened areas of your body. This gives your body the building blocks to heal damage and restore health. Many people experience amazing results; not only do their main complaints resolve, but even seemingly unrelated symptoms begin to disappear!
This process can take a few months, a year, or even longer. As systems are strengthened and symptoms begin to decrease, I continue to align your Customized Therapeutic Food Plan with the restoration happening inside your body.
I use a “food first” approach, not “a pill for an ill” approach. My ultimate goal is for you to incorporate nutrient-dense, healing foods into your daily routine. However, supplements can sometimes jump-start your body’s natural healing process. My supplement recommendations are based on what I learn about your nutritional status, and I continually evaluate their need and efficacy with the hope that you can wean off of them once the therapeutic effect is achieved.
Supplements are not included in the cost of a nutritional therapy package. You will need to purchase them separately from my online supplement store where I will set up an account for you. However, as my client, you will get wholesale prices (usually 35% lower than retail). I do not mark up the prices or make any commission from selling supplements so that you can be assured I will only recommend what you need and nothing more.
What to Expect
After you purchase a nutritional therapy package for either yourself or your child, your first step will be to fill out a few forms. If you choose the one-hour stand alone Nutrition Tune-Up, the forms will be less extensive. If you choose a more comprehensive package, I will ask you to provide a medical history, fill out a Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire (more than 300 questions), and keep track of the food you eat.
Once I receive the completed documents, I will send you a link to schedule your first nutritional therapy session. This first session marks the beginning of the package duration (except for the Nutrition Tune-Up). For all calls, you have the option to choose either video-conferencing (Zoom) or phone.
During your first session, I will give you time to share more details about you or your child’s health journey. I dig deep and ask many questions so I can understand all the factors which may be causing unresolved symptoms. I will then share what I learned about your or your child’s nutritional status, and which bodily systems need support.
I also like to take time to explain the “why” behind my recommendations. This usually includes a review of how wonderful and complex our body is, how it works, and why it sometimes breaks down. I focus on reviewing the function of the specific bodily systems we will be working on together. After all, many of us have forgotten what we learned in school about human biology!
As we collaborate on how you want to implement your Customized Therapeutic Food Plan, I will provide as much guidance and support as you need. I am 100% committed to your success!
The Nutritional Evaluation Process
Prior to your appointment, I will:
🔵 Review your 4-day Food & Mood Journal, Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire, health history, and current medications and supplements.
🔵 Analyze your nutritional questionnaire data and relate the data to your health goals.
🔵 Examine which systems and functions of your body need nutritional support.
🔵 Research possible nutrient deficiencies caused by medications you take.
🔵 Compose follow-up questions based on the information you provided.
🔵 Review the efficacy of current supplements and evaluate if additional supplements may be necessary.
🔵 Prioritize nutrition, supplement, and lifestyle recommendations.
🔵 Outline information to cover during our sessions.
🔵 Create your Customized Therapeutic Food Plan document.
🔵 Collect pertinent resources to share.
NOTE: For the Nutrition Tune-Up, you will only be required to fill out a simple Health Survey and Food Survey instead of a comprehensive Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire and 4-day Food and Mood Journal.
